A Brief History of Prince of Wales Hotel

The Prince of Wales Hotel in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, is a historic gem that dates back to the late 19th century. Built in 1864, it originally operated as a small inn under a different name. It wasn't until 1901 that it was rebranded as the Prince of Wales Hotel. With its distinctive Victorian architecture and prime location overlooking Lake Ontario, the Prince of Wales quickly gained a reputation as a luxurious and elegant destination. Over the years, it has hosted numerous dignitaries and guests, making it a landmark in the charming town of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Today, the Prince of Wales Hotel continues to stand as a symbol of the region's rich history and a testament to the enduring appeal of this beautiful corner of Ontario.

Reception and Ceremony

The Prince of Wales offers 5 unique event spaces including, Hampton Court, Three Feathers, Victoria and Albert Ballroom, The Royal Cambridge Ballroom, and the Hare Wine Co. Weddings. 

The Hampton Court transports guests back in time and inspires elegance, romance, and sophistication. It can host up to 50 guests.

The Three Feathers venue is Victorian luxury with its deep cherry wood and twinkling lights. It’s an intimate space that can host up to 30 guests.

The Victoria and Albert Ballroom makes you feel like royalty with its gilded chandeliers and ornate flooring. The Victorian-era inspired space can host up to 80 guests.

Their second ballroom, the Royal Cambridge Ballroom, is grand in size and can host up to 120 guests, making it one of the hotel’s largest venues.

Lastly, the Hare Wine Co. Weddings is a breathtaking winery, rustic in nature, that can also host up to 120 guests. The historic building offers two reception areas in a lush vineyard setting. Guests can either celebrate in the airy courtyard or the unique barrel room. Combined with fantastic service and award-winning wines, this venue is surely to make your wedding day unforgettable.
